Eastview Single Moms’ Group Boxing Club
Westside MMA and Continuing the Circle of Kindness are sponsoring a training mentorship program for junior high to high school aged kids who participate in the Single Moms’ Ministry at Eastview Christian Church. We hold practices at the church for those students at the Bloomington and Normal campuses.
As with the regular requirement for Westside MMA, students in this program must be passing all classes and have no behavior issues. In this particular program, the moms will sign off each week noting the respect level of their children towards their mother (and rest of the family). If the grades, behavior, and respect are good to go, then the student is allowed to participate.
The Methodology
We believe very strongly that in order for us to do our best for athletes, we must have a strong base in Dutch Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, and Muay Thai. In that regard, we have four levels for striking. Participants in this particular program only go through the striking portion of this program. Using this methodology, our students will get well over 600 rounds of Muay Thai practice over the course of the full curriculum.
What are the training times?
We alternate between the Bloomington and Normal campuses at Eastview Christian Church.
What does a class look like?
Here is some combo work by Abe, who was in our Muay Thai Level 2 program at the time of the video.
What’s in each level?
We are proud to have created our own curriculum that establishes a system of building lesson upon lesson to give our atheletes the greatest chance to learn and succeed.
Muay Thai Progression - Level 1
Level 1 of the Muay Thai series sets up our foundation. Through 18 lessons, students will learn foundational concepts and combinations from Dutch Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, and Muay Thai.

Muay Thai Progression - Level 2
Muay Thai Series Level 2 brings more complex concepts with Dutch Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, and Muay Thai. We do much more Filipino Boxing offensive defense and we institute sparring in this level. We work on defensive rounds, as well.
Drills include the Ajarn Chai punch count (Scott’s Muay Thai teacher from Thailand and founder of the World Thai Boxing Association).

MMA Muay Thai Progression - Level 3
This class incorporates more advanced Filipino Boxing defense and dang near psycho level Dutch Kickboxing and Muay Thai combos.
Drills include the Ramon Dekkers 15 count and Scotty’s smoke rounds.

MMA Muay Thai Progression - Level 4
This class is the capstone bridge between our Dutch Kickboxing, Filipino Boxing, and Muay Thai into stand up submissions from Jiu-Jitsu and Silat. Sparring is included and at the end there is a test with Guro Scott Petri to be able to earn your Westside MMA Warrior Path Muay Thai shorts. In the Thai tradition, these shorts are earned, NEVER given.
